Check out my Digital Portfolio

Elementary School & Technology

The link above will take you to my digital portfolio. Essentially, it is a website which showcases all of the projects that we've worked on in MD 400: Educational Technology as a Graduate Course. The common theme throughout the site is how easy and fun technology can be integrated into the classroom. Each project goes beyond a typical Smart Board, Powerpoint, and YouTube scenario and got me a bit out of my comfort zone as far as technology goes. As each project was hard to connect into a classroom setting at first, I was quickly proven wrong. Each project was fairly easy to create and can be used across many subjects from K-12. I am interested in the future to see how I can integrate these new projects and tidbits into my own classroom...

Enjoy.

  1. Nicole, my favorite book of all time is Dr. Seuss’, Oh The Place You’ll Go! What a great way to entice visitors to read more on your website. It worked for me! I love that you also supply the wordle link, as well. I think your title for the tab, “A Teacher In The Making” is a great name because really all teachers are “teachers in the making” as we continually educate ourselves and reflect on our best practices. Well stated! You are very good with titles as I also love your wiki name, “Beyond Calculators”. The design of your wiki is very aesthetically pleasing. I also enjoyed your digital story of Christopher Columbus and think it will be a very useful teaching tool no matter what grade you teach because most schools celebrate Columbus Day in October with a day off. This video is a great teaching tool to help students understand who Columbus was and why we celebrate this day.

  2. Nicole, nice job on your portfolio. I thought your Educational Philosophy page was put together really nicely - the picture, quote, and your thoughts came together really well. Your comment, “Some children I've interacted with can tell you more about navigating through an iPhone, than they can tell you about the elements of a story.” was really insightful. Another strong part of your site was your PowerPoint - the moon and solar system quiz was great! Your podcast sounded very clear and the music you had as the background was a nice addition. Congrats on the completion of your first semester and good luck on your journey to becoming an effective teacher.
